Why Recovering Together Actually Works

Doing recovery side by side is one of the better ways to reconnect.

When you’re both in a calm setting with almost no stimulation, no phones, no task lists, nothing to perform for, conversation tends to get more real. The sauna has that effect. So does an hour of floating before you reunite. You come back to each other a little softer, a little clearer, and a lot less wound up.

It’s a bit like hiking together, without the hills. The shared experience of something restorative tends to stick in a way that shared consumption, like dinner or a movie, doesn’t quite.

The Couples Packages at Flow Spa

Float plus Sauna (The Most Popular Combo)

Our Couples Float plus Sauna package is $174 (regularly $198). It includes two 1-hour float therapy sessions in individual rooms, followed by a shared 30-minute infrared sauna session.

You each float separately. Float therapy is a solo experience by design, and that’s part of what makes it so effective. An hour in a sensory deprivation tank gives your nervous system a chance to fully let go. Then you reunite in the sauna to warm up, wind down, and actually talk.

This structure works well for couples where one partner is more nervous about floating. You’re together for the whole visit, just not in the tank at the same time.

The Ultimate Relaxation Package

For a longer, deeper experience, the Couples Ultimate Relaxation Package is $360 (regularly $460). It includes two 1-hour floats, two 1-hour registered massage therapy sessions, and a shared 30-minute infrared sauna.

You’ll each float and receive a massage, alternating between the two, then end the afternoon together in the sauna. It’s a genuine full afternoon, and most people leave feeling like they slept for twelve hours.

Massage is performed by a Registered Massage Therapist, so you’ll receive a receipt for insurance.

This one works well for anniversaries, birthdays, or as a gift for someone who’s been running on empty.

Contrast Therapy for Two

If you or your partner are focused on recovery and active living, the Contrast Therapy for Two session is $54. It gives you both access to the infrared sauna, hot tub, and cold plunge for an hour.

Contrast therapy in Peterborough is one of the better tools for nervous system regulation and circulation, and it’s surprisingly fun to do with someone else. There’s a bit of shared challenge to it: encouraging each other into the cold plunge, warming back up together, doing it again. Couples who like doing active things together tend to really enjoy this format.

We also offer a package of four sessions for $175 if you want to build contrast therapy into a regular routine together.

Simpler Options

Not every visit needs to be a full production. We also offer:

  • Two 1-hour floats: $168

  • Two 30-minute floats: $118

  • Two 30-minute floats plus a 30-minute sauna: $150

  • Infrared sauna for two only: $42

These are good entry points for couples who already know what they like, or for a quieter weeknight reset.

A Flow Spa Date Night in Peterborough

Couples drive in from Lakefield, Cobourg, Port Hope, Lindsay, and across the Kawarthas to spend an afternoon with us. If you’re planning a full date night in Peterborough, a couples session pairs well with dinner downtown afterward, since you’ll both be relaxed, hungry, and actually present at the table.

What to Expect on Your First Visit Together

First-timers often ask whether they can float in the same room. Our float rooms are individual, one person per tank. It isn’t a romantic limitation. It’s actually what makes float therapy work. The experience is deeply personal, and having your own space to fully let go is part of the point.

You’ll both arrive together, have a quick orientation, and then head to your respective float rooms. Sessions are typically 60 minutes. Afterward, you meet back up for the sauna portion, or just relax in the quiet lounge if you’ve booked floats only.

There’s no pressure to fill the time with conversation. Most couples find that some of the best connections happen in the quieter moments after recovery, when both people are relaxed enough to just be.

Frequently Asked Questions

Do we float in the same room? No. Float rooms are private and individual. Each person has their own tank and room. This is intentional. Sensory deprivation works best without external input, including your partner. You’ll reunite after your sessions.

What’s the best couples package for a first timer? The Float plus Sauna package is our most popular starting point. It gives you both a genuine float experience and then time to warm up and debrief together in the sauna. Most couples come back having enjoyed it more than expected.

How far in advance do we need to book? We recommend booking at least a few days ahead, especially for weekends or when you’re coordinating two or more services. You can book online here.

Can we book this as a gift? Yes. Gift cards are available and can be applied to any package. They’re a solid option for anniversaries, birthdays, or any occasion where you want to give someone an experience rather than a thing.

Is contrast therapy safe for beginners? Yes. Our team will walk you through how to use the hot tub, cold plunge, and sauna safely. Most people do a few rounds: a few minutes in the sauna or hot tub, then one to three minutes in the cold plunge, and back again. You go at your own pace, and there’s no pressure to push beyond what feels right.

What should we bring? A bathing suit if you’re doing contrast therapy or the hot tub. For float sessions, everything you need is provided, including towels, earplugs, shampoo, and body wash. We also have bath robes and indoor sandals here for you to wear when moving between treatment rooms. Arrive a few minutes early so we can get you both oriented before your sessions start.

What’s your cancellation policy? We ask for at least 24 hours’ notice to reschedule or cancel without being charged for the late cancellation.

Is float therapy, sauna, or contrast therapy safe during pregnancy? Float therapy is often very welcome during pregnancy, especially in the second and third trimesters, since it takes weight off the joints. Infrared sauna and cold plunge are generally not recommended during pregnancy. If you’re pregnant or trying to conceive, please check with your care provider and let our team know when you book so we can tailor the visit.

How long should we plan to be there? Plan for about 15 minutes more than the total service time. For the Float plus Sauna package, that’s roughly 90 minutes to 2 hours. For the Ultimate Relaxation Package, plan for a full afternoon of three to four hours.
