You just want to be able to be active again with your friends and family. To play with your kids, or your grandkids, and do the activities that used to bring you so much joy.
When your body doesn’t want to cooperate, it saps so much of the fun from your favourite pastimes. It’s draining. And feels like a blanket of lead weighing you down.
But, have you ever experienced complete weightlessness before?
Float therapy allows your body to rest effortlessly atop water.
Imagine for a moment what it would be like to let go of the weight of the world on your shoulders. It would be like going on vacation for a week and coming back recharged... but it only takes an hour of your time.
Every joint and muscle in your body is supported allowing for a gentle decompression and relief of tension.
During this escape from reality, pain disappears as well with lasting relief afterwards.
“Lee was tired of having to slip into his shoes each time he went out because of his back pain. After an hour in the float tank, he is was able to bend over pain-free to tie his shoes again.”
Flow Spa is Peterborough's perfect escape to treat your body with what it deserves and feel great again.
Unwind so that you can recharge and continue to handle anything that life throws your way. Float therapy and the other treatments offered at Flow Spa are designed to help you leave feeling completely refreshed and relaxed.
Owner RJ Kayser built Flow Spa as a sanctuary to free yourself from the constant crushing that comes on from everything you face daily.
Where gravity and joint stiffness simply float away.
After studying psychology and nutrition at the University of Toronto, RJ delved further into health and wellness, particularly how the mind and body can work together to support more meaningful and higher states of experience.
His coursework in psychology led him to understanding the importance of mindfulness for well-being, while his practical experience with meditation and concentration in sports made him realize that this peak state took a lot of effort to reach.
Continuing on his journey though he was determined to find better solutions that anyone could utilize to reach these peak states of experience which led him to trying out float therapy for the first time and bringing his high-energy uncle along to try it too.
RJ didn't know what to expect but he was excited when he stepped into the float tank for the very first time. He was all-in on the expierence but wondered how his accountant uncle would handle it.
When the manager of the float centre said the music could stay on or go off in the tank, RJ wanted to go for the full effect and wasted no time asking for the music to go off. As he got into the float tank and lay back, a blue light softly lit the inside of the large float cabin. It was like being in a quiet room full of shallow water. RJ hit the button and was immersed in complete darkness and a peace like nothing he'd ever experienced before.
Time dissolved into nothingness. His steady and relaxed breathing and the sound of his heart beat were the only sounds left. And because the water was at skin temperature, the sensation of water completely disappeared too.
It felt like an eternity but then all of a sudden it was over. This time distortion effect blew his mind.
As he met back up with his uncle, it turned out that his uncle got out after what he thought was 15 minutes but in actuality was close to a full hour.
The rest of that day was pure bliss. Both RJ and his uncle went to lunch completely relaxed and drove home amidst traffic without a care in the world as cars whizzed by with no where particularly important to go.
It’s time for you to experience it for yourself.
But wait, you’re probably thinking that there’s no way floating can work that well. We’ve heard it all at Flow Spa, and more importantly, all of the objections that you might be thinking of have been things said by our regular customers who have had their minds blown so much by the wonderful experience of floating that they now come back every month.
“I’ve tried everything, so I don’t think this will work for me.”
It’s certainly understandable to have your doubts and reservations if you’ve tried all the options you could think of before and not had any help with them. Floating is becoming a shining star of treatment options because of all the research that is showing with long-term studies that float therapy helps to reduce pain and improve recovery. It’s been promising enough for a lot of our clients dealing with arthritis, fibromyalgia, MS, and back pain, that they’ve come in to experience relief for themselves. And the best part of all is there is no downside to it.
"I could never do that, I'm claustrophobic."
We hear this all the time. It's pretty hard to get a sense of just how big the float pod and cabins are when you see pictures of them online or hear a friend talking about floating. So the best thing that we invite you to do is to stop by Flow Spa just to take a look at the float tanks. See how much space there is for yourself because we hear this so regularly and then once customers get a look at the float tanks they're amazed by how much space there actually is.
Because of the clinical applications of float therapy for anxiety relief, float tanks are being used by some therapists in clinics in the United States to decondition people who suffer from extreme claustrophobia. By combining a therapeutic effect of anxiety reduction with an enclosed space, many patients are able to overcome their claustrophobia.
"It sounds great, but I can't turn my brain off."
This is another comment that we regularly hear and guess what? You don't have to be able to turn your brain off in order to benefit from floating. We are constantly being bombarded by stimulating inputs, whether it's from technology, our social circles, the thoughts in our mind, or a combination of all three.
By completely eliminating all of those external stimuli, floating gets you into a safe and relaxing space to be at ease. Even as your brain continues to let thoughts swirl around, soon enough, the float tank acts like a mental filing cabinet for you and the thoughts get sorted and put away. You come out of the experience much more at ease and with less chaos going on in your head.
"Self-care is selfish. I have others to care for."
We so often get overwhelmed because we are caregivers for others in our lives. But it's not selfish to care for yourself first, it's the only way to continue to give more of yourself to others as well.
In case of emergency, the flight attendants always tell you to put on your oxygen mask first before helping others. Floating is your oxygen mask. In a world of uncertainty and stress, taking care to recharge before you get burnt out is the best long-term solution you can have.
“I don’t have time to do that.”
The one thing that we see over and over again is that those who take time out for themselves perform the best long-term. Making time in your schedule to recharge and recover is essential to avoiding burnout. We all need balance in our schedule if we want to feel our best. So even if floating isn’t your thing, don’t forget to take time to refill your cup with things that bring you joy.
“If it works so well, why do I have to come back more than once?”
We all know there are no miracle cures. Floating is incredibly effective for many people, which is not only why they come to try it out for the first time but also why they keep coming back. If you’ve been dealing with chronic pain for years, you’re not going to completely reverse your condition overnight. It’s going to take some consistent work.
Plus floating is an experience that’s easy to fall in love with and want to keep returning for. Once you’ve done a few float sessions and acquainted yourself with the experience, you’ll know for yourself the benefits that it does for your body.
Floating works so well for relieving Pain because it:
Reduce Back and Neck Pain
Ease Swollen and Stiff Joints
Decompress your spine
Speed up your recovery from injuries with the magnesium in Epsom salts
Eliminate tension in your mind and body
Recharge Your Batteries
Many regular floaters and the scientists who study floating compare it to multiple therapy sessions in one.
The benefits to your mind are like having your own therapist, which would normally cost $200-$300 per hour.
Physically, the tension and pain relief that comes from floating is like a great massage, which would cost around $100 per hour.
60-minute float sessions offer you the same peace of mind and body for just $70.
And because we want you to experience the relief from floating for yourself, we are offering your first float session for 20% off.

Common Questions That Often Pop Up:
There are more you can read on the FAQ page here
You'll get a helpful email when you book your float session that will include all the details of what you need to know and bring for your appointment.
Here's a summary of the most common questions we get asked:
We provide you with towels and earplugs (optional) for your float
The showers are built right into the float rooms so you get your own private space
Bathing suits are optional in your private and locked room, but wear one if you feel more comfortable that way
We have hairdryers but you may want to bring a brush or comb.
Most people prefer to avoid caffeine before floating and to have a light snack or meal so as to not feel distracted by hunger.
How often should I float?
This question really depends on how much pain you are experiencing right now. Dr. Justin Feinstein, the world’s foremost researcher on float tanks and the therapeutic effects says that between three to five float sessions is when most people will know for sure how helpful it is, so planning the time to come in every week or every two weeks when you’re starting is going to work the best.
Then as you’ve found a routine that works for you, it will be dependent on how much pain relief you need and how often. Typically, every week or every two weeks is ideal for most of our floaters for consistent pain relief.
