COVID-19 Protocols and Screening Questionnaire

COVID-19 Protocols

All safety precautions and disinfection are being upheld based on the guidelines of the College of Massage Therapists of Ontario.

This includes regularly updated practices and procedures as the situation evolves:

  • Screening Protocols- Active Screening using the MOH’s Patient Screening Guidance Document 

    - All clients are pre-screened over the phone or through the online booking system- All people entering the clinic (clients, delivery people, etc.) are screened before entering - All clients are screened by the RMT before treatment begins 

    - Passive Screening:- Signage has been placed at entrances, reception, and throughout the clinic informing clients of common symptoms 

    Cleaning and Disinfecting Protocols- The following cleaning and disinfecting products are to be used: 

    - DINs:Disinfectant: 02489740

    (Es15 Spray & Wipe Disinfectant Cleaner) 

    - Common areas:- Waiting area has been limited to two chairs spaced two metres apart- Routine cleaning practices will be continued, with the following additional practices added on: 

    - Commonly touched surfaces (doorknobs, bathrooms, counters, keyboards, etc.) will be cleaned and disinfected twice daily and when visibly soiled (log kept) – 

    Hand Washing Protocols: 

    - Use soap and warm water for a minimum of 20 seconds, including elbows and forearms for RMTs. Thoroughly rinse of soap and dry area gently with a single-use towel. Do not use hand sanitizer immediately after.- Use two pumps of hand sanitizer, thoroughly applying over the full hand until completely absorbed. Do not touch people or objects until sanitizer is fully absorbed. 

    - Treatment Rooms:- All unnecessary items have been removed from rooms- The room and its equipment (including massage tables and stools, lotion bottles, client’s chair) will be cleaned and disinfected after each client (logged in client’s record) 

    - Additional time has been added to each treatment to allow for this to occur - Laundry bins are hard surfaces and cleared after every client.- Clients are instructed to leave removed clothing and other items on the chair- All trash bins can be used touch-free 

    Client Protocols- Only clients who pass the screening protocols will be allowed entry into the clinic- Clients are to arrive as close to the appointment as possible, alone, and with a face mask - Clients are to use hand sanitizer or use the hand washing station upon entry to the clinic - Once inside the clinic, a distance of 2 metres is to be maintained wherever possible 

    Employee Protocols- All employees are to: 

    - Self-assess for symptoms before entering the clinic 

    - Wash and/or sanitize hands upon entering the clinic- Document their health status upon entering the clinic and before beginning work - Follow Situational Protocol 2 if symptoms do emerge 

    - Front Desk Staff are responsible for

    - Cleaning and disinfecting common areas as outlined above- Screening incoming members of the public before entry in the clinic- Ensuring all incoming members of the public use hand sanitizer or wash their hands upon entry- Taking payments, answering phones- Maintaining a Cleaning and Disinfection Log and a roster of all people entering the clinic 

    Sub-Contractor Protocols - All RMTs are to 

    - Self-assess for symptoms before entering the clinic- Wash and/or sanitize hands upon entering the clinic- Document their health status upon entering the clinic and before beginning work - Follow Situational Protocol 2 if symptoms do emerge- Follow all CMTO Guidelines during, before and after treatments- Complete appropriate PPE training- Clean and disinfect treatment rooms after each treatment

    Situational Protocols:1. If someone with symptoms enters the clinic: 

    - Advise them to:- Self-isolate for 14 days, 

    - Complete the self-assessment tool 

    - Call their primary care provider or Telehealth Ontario at 1-866-797-0000 - Disinfect within 2 metres of anyone displaying symptoms- No treatment will be provided (clients)- Document this information in the health record (clients)- Inform the Public Health Unit of any confirmed cases 

    2. If staff become ill- Self-isolate for 14 days 

    - Do not come into work, continue to work remotely where able- If already at work, self-isolate immediately until able to return home 

    - All areas touched by the ill staff members to be disinfected immediately - Inform the Public Health Unit of any confirmed cases 


Additional Float Tank Protocols:

Updates for during Orange zone restrictions and higher (including Red zone and Grey lockdown)

  • Floating is only accessible to those clients who have provided a doctor’s note prescribing floating as part of their treatment plan.

  • A copy of the doctor’s note must be sent via email to info@flowspa.ca prior to contacting us to book a session.

  • To limit access to only clients floating for therapeutic reasons, clients must call ahead to book at 705-230-8575.

  • The front door will remain closed to public access and clients will have to call or text upon arrival for their appointment.


All appointments must be booked in advanced for Flow Spa members and local customers only.

Customers are being screened for COVID-19 through the booking system and upon entering the spa to allow access to the facilities.

Available appointments have been reduced by 40% and appointments have been spaced out with an hour between each appointment to limit the number of patrons and to allow for a a complete sanitization process of all surfaces of the inside of the float tank, using hydrogen peroxide based ES65H, in addition to doubling the run time of the filtration system for disinfection. This involves running the entire salt solution through a 1 micron filter, and past a UV disinfection system and ozonator.

All contact surfaces in the float room are being disinfected between customers with ES 15 Spray and Wipe disinfectant. (Disinfectant: 02489740)

For contact tracing, customers must have their contact information in the booking system and use the float room they are assigned.

COVID-19 Screening

Please go through this COVID Screening Questionnaire and confirm your appointment below. 

  1. Have you had close contact with anyone with acute respiratory Illness or travelled outside of Canada in the past 14 days?

  2. Do you have a confirmed case of COVID-19 or had close contact with a confirmed case of COVID-19?

  3. Do have any of the following symptoms:

    • Fever

    • New onset of cough

    • Worsening chronic cough

    • Shortness of breath

    • Difficulty breathing

    • Sore throat

    • Difficulty swallowing

    • Decrease/loss of sense of:

      • -taste and smell

    • Chills                            

    • Headaches

    • Unexplained fatigue/malaise

    • Unexplained muscle pain

    • Nausea/vomiting/diarrhea 

    • Abdominal pain 

    • Pink eye (conjunctivitis)

    • Nose/nasal congestion

      • -unknown reasons

 If you answered “Yes” to any of the above please go to a testing centre immediately and contact us to reschedule your appointment. You will not be charged for a late cancellation if you need to reschedule due to any of the symptoms of COVID.
